On-call and incidents

Setting up a rotation

Who is on call and when — a schedule that cycles by itself.

A rotation defines who is responsible at any given time. The schedule cycles on its own — there is nothing to fill in by hand each week.

  1. 1Create a rotation: name, cycle length (7 days, say) and the handover time.
  2. 2Add members — a primary and optionally a backup responder.
  3. 3Pick the start date; the system cycles the rotation from there.
  4. 4Set the acknowledgement and escalation timeouts.

Absences

When someone is on holiday or ill, record an absence — the rotation skips them for that period and moves to the next person automatically.

Overrides

You can swap the responder for a specific day without disturbing the rest of the schedule.

Fairness

The system tracks how much on-call time each person has carried, so an uneven load is visible on the schedule.
