Email notifications can easily become a flood, so there are four modes:

| Personal (default) | Only what concerns you directly: assignments, mentions, approvals |
| Daily | One summary email per day |
| Off | No email at all — you only see things in the system |
The default is personal: a new user should not be flooded on day one, so only directly relevant events are emailed.
